What's new

HEY EVERYONE,

So it has been awhile since I last posted.  Here are some of my recent designs.

This design was for KU's business council.  I completed this design in one day.  In the design I tried to capture the changing of leaves and focusing moving the eye through the information.  From what I heard they were happy about the design and I got to see this poster around campus.

The International Student Association hosted a Thanksgiving dinner.  We were expected to at least have a 100 outcome.  At the end of the night we had all the food gone and some full bellies.  The design had attracted a good amount of people to the event.
My final project for Drawing for Design was to draw and design a flip book.  I have to say this project was not that easy.  I mostly worked in InDesign and from sketches I had drawn out.  The book was 80 pages, just the title sequence was 30 pages in its self.  It was all worth it.  I am now entering my book to compete with other students.  If my book is chosen for the auction then it will continue on in the contest.  I look forward to hearing the results.

Day on the Job

GOOD AFTERNOON

Recently, I have been given the position as the executive designer for The University of Kansas, International Student Association.

I had my first meeting yesterday going over materials the association is involved with, and designs I need to start working on.  Nothing is overwhelming and I just finished my first poster for the INTERNATIONAL SOCCER TOURNAMENT (at the bottom of post)

The International Soccer Tournament is a free event ISA is hosting on October 13th, 2012 at the Schenk Fields  (field one) from 7am to 11pm.

If anyone wants to be a part of the tournament they are to email the association and sign up their team! It should be lots of fun!

Take a break

Good evening!

So I had a thought in drawing class today...my professor mentioned the word silence today.  I realized I really don't get a lot of that...

There is so much noise that surrounds us, it really does cloud and fog and distract our minds.  I always thought music soothed the mind, but instead it can actually be very distracting.

Behalf of this epiphany, I challenge everyone to silence! Take a break during the day, listen to the silence.  Focus on a subject matter, really get to know it and understand it.

Just a video I thought about when I thought of silence

Design. Design. Design

Hi there!

I wanted to share a few of my works I had did over the summer for clients.

*Reminder this is only a few I will be posting more!

CHEER FAMILY T-SHIRT

So my sister is a cheerleader in high school and she is assigned a cheer family.  The head cheerleader was in charge of designing a t-shirt for their family.  Of course instead of my sister designing it...it was asked of me to do it.  I decided to go with a basic design but still bold and read well.  On the back was the left design and on the front right side of the shirt each of the girls had their names printed with a megaphone above.  The t-shirts were a medium purple.
From what I heard they were happy about the design! DESIGN SUCCESS

YES DAY T-SHIRT

This is another t-shirt design I did over the summer.  The client was my youth group at church and they needed a t-shirt design for "Yes Day."  This is a day the students involved with youth do community service to earn money for the interns that were to raise X amount of dollars for the church.  In return of doing this service the students were rewarded with t-shirts.  I went with a text and organized design that told what event, the logo of the youth group and date when it occurred.  This design was printed on a neon shirt.  From the looks of the printing they looked great!

THE HUNGER GAMES POSTER

EBC Youth, which is my youth group had put me in charge with a lot of their designs over the summer.  This poster was designed to advertise for their lock-in that was themed as "The Hunger Games."  This poster was enjoyable to do since I had just finished reading the hunger games series.

More to come! Please feel free to comment! I love the feedback.

Welcome!

Hi there!

Welcome to my blog.  I will be posting about my day, activities/crafts, my freelance designs, projects, inspiration, and responses to articles and or readings.

To tell you a little about myself... I am currently a sophomore at the University of Kansas pursuing a B.F.A degree in Design emphasis in Visual Communications.  Enrolled in 15 hours keeps me very busy.

My high school year I was very interested in fashion/design.  I fell in love with graphics my senior year when I was accepted to an e-communication program at another high school for 3 hours during the morning.  My teacher really inspired me to follow through with graphics and every since graphics and I are inseparable!

I would like to do an internship this summer for graphics, and eventually when I graduate the University of Kansas do packaging design, advertisement, posters, business images, logos, icons, and lots more...it is a never ending list.

Well to tell you about home I am not an only child.  I have a sister who is in her senior year of high school.  Not only do I have a sister but two great loving parents and two electus parrots.  When I am at home I like to go running with my dad, sketch, cook breakfast food... I  L O V E  BREAKFAST FOOD, shopping, SLEEP (I don't get enough of this), and catch some episodes of How I met your Mother,  Two in a half men, and Glee, I listen to music (all sorts), and read a lot of fiction books.  Currently I am reading WATCHMEN comic and blah blah blah blah! Enough about me!

Enjoy the site!
Feel free to comment or make any critiques! I love the input!
